Thank you for visiting our website!

Welcome to St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Bound Brook, we are a diverse and loving group of Episcopalians from around the corner, and around the world. Some of us come from as faraway as Nigeria, India, Jamaica and even a few come from Brooklyn. But most of us are from Middlesex, Somerset and Hunterdon counties.

We are a congregation committed to reaching out to others in this bruised and battered world in the spirit of Jesus Christ. As Christ touched others and allowed others to touch him so we are called forth beyond our church doors. We reach out not as a duty but in the spirit of joy and thankfulness for all that we have been given. We have been greatly blessed and strive to be a blessing to others.

At the parish level, we have a weekly program of feeding others called Lunch On Us that has been part of our congregational life for over twenty five years. Our worship on Sundays is at 8AM in the Rite I traditional style from the Book of Common Prayer. The 10AM service is in the Rite II style. We are a welcoming and inclusive community. Come visit and See!

Thought for the Week  February 18, 2020

This week, the Christian Church celebrates the legacy of Frederick Douglass. Douglass is remembered as a social reformer who devoted much of his energy to the abolition of chattel slavery in the United States. He knew the institution of slavery intimately, having been born an enslaved person in 1818. Douglass taught himself to read - itself an illegal act - by studying the Bible. When he became a Christian at age 14, he was further inspired to seek liberation for himself and all enslaved persons. Douglass’ Christian faith compelled him to escape the institution of slavery and dedicate the rest of his life to the cause of abolition. What does our Christian faith compel us to believe and do for the sake of the freedom of all people?

Announcements:

The 2019 giving summary statements are available in the Narthex. The 2020 giving envelopes are also in the Narthex. Pledge cards for 2020 are still available by speaking with an usher or Rev. Foley.

The next Love Local ministry will again support the Douglas Diner tomorrow, February 19. We will leave from the church around 12:40 and drive to the restaurant together. You are also welcome to join us at the restaurant directly. The Douglas Diner is located on Main Street across from the Bound Brook Train Station.

There will be a special evening Open Office Hour this Thursday, February 20, from 6:30 to 7:30 PM. Rev. Foley’s regular Open Office Hours take place on Wednesday mornings: 10:30 to 11:30 AM, before the midweek Eucharist.

Keep your eyes open for information about the 2020 Lenten Gift Day. This special collection benefits Saint Paul’s scholarship program and our general fund.

Lent 2020 begins with Ash Wednesday on February 26. Faithful and bold volunteers will join Rev. Foley at the Bound Brook Train Station from 6:30 to 7:30 AM. Please see Rev. Foley or sign up in the Narthex for information or to express interest in participating. There will also be two celebrations of the Eucharist with the imposition of ashes at 12 Noon and 7 PM.

Please see the Sunday bulletin for information about the Scrip fundraiser. They can be submitted with checks for your orders in the offering plate or in Irene’s mailbox. For more information, please see or contact Irene.

Plans for Lent 2020 are full of programs and opportunities for prayer. Please check out the fliers posted throughout the building. The afternoon Lenten Bible Study will meet for 5 Wednesdays beginning around 12:45 PM on March 4, after the 12 Noon Eucharist. Please note that the evening Bible Study at Saint John’s, Somerville, on March 12 requires an RSVP by March 3.
