Thank you for visiting our website!

Welcome to St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Bound Brook, we are a diverse and loving group of Episcopalians from around the corner, and around the world. Some of us come from as faraway as Nigeria, India, Jamaica and even a few come from Brooklyn. But most of us are from Middlesex, Somerset and Hunterdon counties.

We are a congregation committed to reaching out to others in this bruised and battered world in the spirit of Jesus Christ. As Christ touched others and allowed others to touch him so we are called forth beyond our church doors. We reach out not as a duty but in the spirit of joy and thankfulness for all that we have been given. We have been greatly blessed and strive to be a blessing to others.

At the parish level, we have a weekly program of feeding others called Lunch On Us that has been part of our congregational life for over twenty five years. Our worship on Sundays is at 8AM in the Rite I traditional style from the Book of Common Prayer. The 10AM service is in the Rite II style. We are a welcoming and inclusive community. Come visit and See!

Thought for the Week – March 13, 2019

Glory and Mercy

In the Collect (Prayer) of the Day this Sunday, we identify God as one “whose glory it is always to have mercy.”  These two concepts, “glory” and “mercy,” seem to be mismatched.  “Glory” sounds heavenly and somehow far from the human realm of experience.  “Mercy” sounds earthly and deeply connected to the human experience.  Is it possible that we are meant to believe in a God of both glory and mercy?  Are we meant to be in relationship with a God intimately involved in both heavenly and earthly matters?  Does knowing that God is far and near comfort us or challenge us?

Announcements:

There is a mid-week opportunity to worship on Wednesdays at 12 Noon throughout Lent.  An Adult Lenten Bible Study will continue on Wednesdays at 1 PM through Holy Week.  Feel free to bring a bagged lunch.

The monthly Pancake Breakfast is this Sunday, March 17, between the services.  Join the members and friends of the Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church family for this delicious opportunity for fellowship.  Donations of food, time, and energy are always welcome!

Thank you for supporting the Mr. Subs fundraiser on March 12.

We welcome Louise Olshan back to the organ.  Her ministry and generosity are deeply appreciated!  Anyone interested in singing with the Saint Paul’s choir should speak with Louise Olshan or Art Hoffman.  All voices are welcome!

Coffee hour is an important opportunity for our congregation, often providing precious time for fellowship with our beloved church family.  Please consider becoming a coffee hour host.  You are invited to give it a try on an upcoming Sunday.  Suggestions are available.  Please see Reverend Foley or email her at priest.spbb@gmail.com for more information.

Please keep those preparing for the sacrament of baptism in prayer, especially for their Lenten journey.
