Thank you for visiting our website!

Welcome to St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Bound Brook, we are a diverse and loving group of Episcopalians from around the corner, and around the world. Some of us come from as faraway as Nigeria, India, Jamaica and even a few come from Brooklyn. But most of us are from Middlesex, Somerset and Hunterdon counties.

We are a congregation committed to reaching out to others in this bruised and battered world in the spirit of Jesus Christ. As Christ touched others and allowed others to touch him so we are called forth beyond our church doors. We reach out not as a duty but in the spirit of joy and thankfulness for all that we have been given. We have been greatly blessed and strive to be a blessing to others.

At the parish level, we have a weekly program of feeding others called Lunch On Us that has been part of our congregational life for over twenty five years. Our worship on Sundays is at 8AM in the Rite I traditional style from the Book of Common Prayer. The 10AM service is in the Rite II style. We are a welcoming and inclusive community. Come visit and See!

Thought for the Week – August 20, 2019

In Sunday’s Old Testament reading, we hear God’s call to Jeremiah to become a prophet.  Many of us might think of prophets as people who can see the future.  In Jeremiah’s time, however, prophets were understood to play a very specific role: telling bad news, particularly to people in power.  It’s understandable, then, that Jeremiah would not want to accept this call from God.  Jeremiah puts up a strong argument against becoming a prophet, but God prevails – as usual.  God does have bad news for Jeremiah to deliver, but through this bad news, people will return to relationship with God.  Jeremiah took a risk by answering God’s call, even risking his own life.  What risks are we willing to take in faithfulness to God’s call?

Announcements:

The Wednesday Eucharist will resume at 12 Noon on September 4 in the Lady Chapel.

Saint Paul’s will welcome the new school year on September 8 with our first “Blessing of the Backpacks” during the 10 AM service.  Students of all ages, teachers (including Sunday School teachers), and all school professionals will receive special blessings as well as some treats.  September 8 is also our Sunday School picnic and the whole parish is invited.  Please join us!

On September 15, the Bound Brook River Fest is an opportunity to meet our neighbors.  Sign up in the narthex for a shift at Saint Paul’s table for this exciting outreach event!

Calling all teachers and those involved in Youth Ministry: please register for the “Safe Church” training hosted by Saint Paul’s on Saturday, October 19, from 9 AM to 3:00 PM.  Participants are required to take both sessions (AM and PM) and to provide their own lunch.  Vestry members, employees, and lay Eucharistic visitors are required to attend a training every five years.  The event is free but you must register before October 15 through the Diocese of New Jersey using the following website: http://tinyurl.com/SafeChurch10192019

Please review the names you submitted for the prayer list and contact Sheri at the church office if any names should be removed.  She can be reached by email (stpaulscc6@gmail.com) or by phone (732-356-0247).
